Edu Passion 2019

Edu Passion
What is Edu Passion?

On January the 24th of 2019 my school did this annual event called "edu passion"  (short for education). This event invited college students, universities representatives, and some alumni that have completed their studies abroad. The purpose of this event is to enable us students to gain different and variant information regarding different universities and institutes domestically and internationally. Practically, it gives us students a wider picture on different places we could go to expand our knowledge after graduating from High School. For most of the event our attention as students were mostly focused on different presentations that each faculties from some favorite universities did. The presentation was unique because it wasn't geared towards telling students general information about the faculties, it was more focused towards tips and tricks and curriculum overview of the study program that each faculties have. The event wasn't only attended by different institutions and  universities representatives , there was one more thing which is a food bazaar. The food bazaar wasn't huge and there were only several food stands. However there was a peculiar yet interesting feature specifically the payment system. Unlike normal transactions in which the buyer uses real currency to buy a food, in this food bazaar the event used a coupon system. Students are required to trade their real currency for a coupon of the same amount to buy  any food or drinks in the bazaar. Personally i think it's a great system because with this system it is way easier for tenants and also the event organizer to track the flow of money and we don't have to worry about change since the price was already set to a standard where a change of money would only be possible when students trade their money. In general the event is geared towards giving students a more extensive and comprehensive information to prepare them for their inevitable endaevour in their own respected universities.

What Did I Do?
For most of the event, we students were given our own individual assignments. One of the assignment was the Bahasa Indonesia assignment in which students are assigned to interview different stands which represent different universities. Interestingly there is one university stand that caught my attention which was the Tokyo International University stand. Due to my interest, I naturally asked a couple a question regarding on enrollment, etc. It was really interesting because it opened up a lot of information regarding Japan's scholarships and its tuition reduction in several institutions and universities. Sadly the university only offers scholarship program in social studies which is very contradictory to what I'm pushing for which is science. Anywho it was really interesting because for most of the part I was asking information on scholarship programs such as JASSO, MEXT, etc.
The next thing that I did which I think is worth telling, is the experience that I got by attending the STEI presentation. It was really interesting because I got to know several facts on the materials and preparations that I need to do in the future to be able to be accepted in STEI (fyi STEI is the equivalent of Electronic and Information Faculty).
Overall the experience was great and full of exciting information. I hope that in the future this event will be held better and with much more stands representing universities instead of agents that offers help to get you accepted in a foreign university.
